F.O.I.A.: Freedom of Information Act • Effective January 1, 2010


In compliance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (F.O.I.A.), the Village of North Aurora will respond to requests for information that are submitted in writing and such requests can be mailed, personally delivered, faxed, or e-mailed to the attention of the North Aurora F.O.I.A. Officers. Although not required, a F.O.I.A. request form is available at the Village of North Aurora and on our website (posted at right) for your convenience in requesting information. All requests for information that are intended to be submitted as a F.O.I.A. request must be identified as such.

F.O.I.A. requests for information and/or records that pertain to the Village of North Aurora, including the following departments: Administration, Community Development, Building and Zoning, Public Works, and Finance should be directed to the North Aurora Administration F.O.I.A. Please make your written request for information as specific as possible in order to expedite the processing of your request. All requests for information will be responded to within the time required by the Freedom of Information Act or sooner if at all feasible. Documents and records will be furnished in the format in which they are maintained in the Village unless a specific format is requested and it is feasible to furnish the documents or records in the requested format. For all commercial requests, the Village will estimate the cost of copying (after the first 50 pages) and when the documents or records will be available, and the copying cost must be paid before the documents or records are furnished.

The cost for copying documents is $0.15 per page after the first 50 pages (the first 50 pages will be provided at no charge). Any costs for reproducing oversized documents that would have to be sent out for reproduction will be passed on to the person(s) requesting the information.
