Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer (S.M.A.R.T.)

The Speed Monitoring Awareness Radar Trailer is a portable, self-contained speed display unit that is towed to sites experiencing speed related problems. A specifically designed radar is mounted inside the locked trailer which displays the speed of vehicles on a large lighted display. This allows motorists to see their speed. The speed limit sign mounted above the display reminds motorist to pay attention to the posted speed limit. As speed awareness increases, motorists’ in-turn will slow down, even after the S.M.A.R.T. is moved to a different location.

If you would like to see the S.M.A.R.T. in a specific location or have any other traffic problem, please fill out the online Traffic Enforcement Request Form PDF Document and email it to the department traffic officer.

Please keep in mind we do experience large number of requests for the S.M.A.R.T. The S.M.A.R.T. will be placed at your requested location in the order the request was received.

Also, the S.M.A.R.T. is not deployed in the winter months. This is due to the Village Ordinance which regulates parking of vehicles PDF Document on village streets after 2 inches of snowfall.
